Hi, I'm Chris Behrens, with Summerhays Music Center here in Murray, Utah. Today, we're going to talk about how to learn to begin to play a trumpet. There are many different ways. Two of the best ways is you can get a beginner one book, and that is full of all the knowledge as far as how the mouthpieces work, how the trumpets work, the different parts of the trumpet, and how to start gettin' a sound out, and how to start doing the basic notes. The second best way to learn how to begin playin' a trumpet is to get a private instructor, and you can find those on our website at summerhaysmusic.com if you live in Utah, or you can search for em' in whatever state you're in, or call your local music store and ask them for the names of private instructors. A good way, and if you just want to have some fun and try to figure it out on your own; the easiest way to try to get a
sound out of a best professional trumpets is to pretend like you're spitting. Everybody's spit before, so now we're going to spit in this mouthpiece. Then once you get that down, you put the mouthpiece in the receiver there on the trumpet and we're going to spit in it again. That's some basics on how to begin playin' trumpet.
