Make sure that the programs you got have prepared you to do inventory and some administrative tasks. Cleaning task is also part of your duty and you may even do that from time to time. Small and independent owned pharmacies that offer compound prescriptions are known as compounding pharmacies. They are another place where you can work as pharmacy technician. This compounding pharmacy has the ability to create custom prescriptions, so it is expected that the personnel working in this type of pharmacy should be certified and must have at least some knowledge and specialization in compounding medications. If you are to apply here as pharmacy technician, make sure that you understand compounding techniques and you are good in mathematics skills. Pharmacy technicians, regardless if they have or don't have opportunities at pharmacy technician schools, as long as they are expert in compounding works have the chance to get higher wages than pharmacy technicians in general.

Hospitals and other medical health centers are great area of job opportunities for pharmacy technicians. Be mindful however, that most hospitals are looking for pharmacy technicians who are certified or licensed.
